This blog post provides valuable information that can help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Signs of a Failing Dental Implant<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When a dental implant is not functioning as intended, you may notice a variety of symptoms, including the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Persistent pain or discomfort<\/strong> at the implant site that does not subside after a few days. Pain is particularly concerning if it occurs after you have fully healed from your dental implant surgery.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Swelling, redness, or inflammation<\/strong> around the gums near your implant.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mobility or looseness<\/strong> of the implant.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Difficulty chewing or biting<\/strong>, especially if the discomfort is new or worsening.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Visible changes in the gum tissue<\/strong>, such as recession or bleeding.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Pus or other signs of infection<\/strong> that appear near the implant area.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Unusual sensations<\/strong>, such as tingling or numbness around the implant site.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You should be especially diligent about watching for signs of trouble if you have risk factors for dental implant failure, such as smoking, poor oral hygiene, or uncontrolled diabetes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you notice any troubling symptoms, it is important to contact your dental provider promptly. Early intervention may be able to save your implant and prevent it from failing completely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"PreventingImplantFailure\">Preventing Dental Implant Failure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Fortunately, there are a lot of things you can do to greatly reduce the risk of dental implant failure:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Maintain excellent oral hygiene<\/strong> by brushing and flossing daily. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and non-abrasive toothpaste to avoid damaging your gums and implants. If you have an implant bridge, you should clean underneath it with a water flosser or interdental brush.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attend <strong>regular dental checkups and professional cleanings<\/strong>. Ideally, you should attend an appointment every six months.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Avoid smoking<\/strong> or using tobacco products, as these can increase the risk of implant failure.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Limit your alcohol intake, <\/strong>since overconsumption can impair blood flow, weaken your immune system, and lead to dental implant problems.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Limit your intake of sugary foods and beverages<\/strong>, which can contribute to gum disease.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Protect your teeth by wearing a mouthguard<\/strong> if you participate in contact sports or grind your teeth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Manage your overall health <\/strong>by eating a nutritious diet, staying physically active, and sticking to other beneficial habits.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Dental implant failure is rare, but it is a serious threat!
